Feature Article

Remote freelancers and CEOs may not seem like they have too much in common. But using some of the same skills as a business leader can set a remote freelancer up for success – it’s all about Leadership!
Adopting a confident mindset
Displaying professionalism
Mastering your technical skills
Nearly everyone 50+ has some degree of these skills that will give them the edge over their competition in winning freelancing jobs.
Leadership and mindset have played a strong role in many of our successful lives and careers. CEOs and hiring professionals will recognize these skills in your proposals and delivery of work well-done to your clients.
Statistic of the Week
Average hourly freelancer wage per age group shows that the 55+ category of freelancers are paid the highest rates because of their extensive experiences, reliable work habits, and the ability to deal with unplanned mayhem.
It is a huge asset to have experience being solution- oriented, flexible and calm in the face of crisis or roadblocks. Companies and clients show that they’re willing to pay more for this capability.
Productivity Tool(s) of the Week
Mindmapping with MindManager (MindJet)
MindManager (aka. MindJet) is a mind-mapping program that takes your ideas and visions and puts them into a logical, step-by-step format that you can take action on.
Winton has been using mind-mapping – with this app in particular – for years, and, guess what? Every Barefoot Consultants’ product has started out as a mind-map!
He recounts how he puts his vision into a broad description and lets the mind-map coordinate like ideas and group the information into a flow that gives him a direction to head in as he creates training content.
Job of the Week
This is a great starter job that Joe H did – he said it was really fun and easy. Thanks Joe for your submission!
In this example, number 1 marks assessing all of the client’s attributes, each one of them here making this a good client candidate: good stars, seasoned client (evidenced by the large number of hires and quantity of money spent).
Don’t be put off that they’re based in Japan. They clearly have experience working in the USA time zones.
Number 2 is the title and you can see it’s entry-level. Start with simple jobs so you can get your Job Success Score as quickly as possible. After that you can pick things you would rather be doing.
Number 3, don’t be put off that they want you to bring people. You can or they also tell you how to get around that.
Could be fun though to grab a couple freelancing friends and all 3 do it. Either way, get some of these fun little starter jobs under your belt.
