📞 Remote Income Goldmine: Highlights from This Week's Training

Did you miss this week’s live Tuesday call? Here’s what Winton and Heidi covered in our smokin’ hot session on the new face of customer service—and why it’s one of the most flexible, in-demand paths to consistent freelance income today.

1️⃣ This Isn't Yesterday’s Call Center Gig
Modern customer service means concierge-level support, chat-based tech help, virtual reception, onboarding management—and sometimes even client fulfillment for celebs and influencers. Yes, really.

2️⃣ Thousands of Openings, Daily
Over 7,000 active customer service and support jobs are posted on Upwork at any given time. From part-time virtual assistants to $96K/year client experience managers, the range is broad—and growing.

3️⃣ Great Entry Point = Great R&D
Don’t overlook mid-tier or even “starter” jobs. These let you:

  • Build proposal-writing muscle

  • Learn inside systems and client workflows

  • Spot higher-paying niches you never considered

4️⃣ The Skills You Already Have Count
If you’ve been a teacher, tech support go-to, office admin, or even just a natural problem solver—you’re qualified. And tools like ChatGPT can help you polish your communication on the fly.

5️⃣ White-Glove = Higher Pay
Clients will pay premium rates for freelancers who can make their high-end customers feel supported and prioritized. It’s not just about answering questions—it’s about managing relationships like a pro.

💡 Think this might be a fit for you? Then don’t miss next week’s call when we dive even deeper into how to position your existing experience to land flexible, rewarding work in today’s evolving service economy. See you there!

🧠 ChatGPT + Breakfast = Your Next Freelance Superpower?

In this week’s AI Lab, Winton showed us how to turn ChatGPT into your personal idea engine—live and unscripted.

The topic?

🍳 Low-carb vegetarian breakfasts (because why not start changing your life before coffee?).

But the real lesson?
Using ChatGPT as your creative brainstorming partner can spark client-ready content in minutes. Whether you’re writing listicles, how-tos, or opinion pieces, the right prompt makes all the difference.

So we crowd-sourced a topic, shaped it, and watched ChatGPT serve up a buffet of content faster than a breakfast burrito at a drive-thru.

Here’s the exact prompt we used (feel free to steal it!):

“You are a freelance writer developing a listicle about low-carb vegetarian breakfasts. Suggest 3–5 original and compelling article ideas with angles or perspectives that would resonate most with my target audience.”

Want to tweak it? Just swap in your own subject (“budget-friendly travel,” “freelance client red flags,” “5 ways to use a coffee mug as office equipment”…you get the idea). Then watch the magic happen.

🛠️ Pro Tip: Name and save your best prompts so you can reuse or refine them later!

QUESTION OF THE WEEK

🎓 Doctor or Veteran? What to Include (and Where to Include it) on Your Profile

Should I use my military retired title in the overview? Or what if I have a doctorate — not a PhD — should I use “Dr.” in my title?

This week’s question actually came in three parts—and touched on some powerful profile strategy tips you might not be using yet:

🪖 1. If you’re a veteran, say so!
Upwork lets you indicate if you have military experience, and it’s always worth selecting. Why? Clients with government contracts often must subcontract a portion of their work to veteran-owned businesses or freelancers—and selecting this tag helps surface your profile when those clients search.

🎓 2. Got a doctorate? List it clearly in your education section.
Even if it’s not a PhD, your doctorate absolutely belongs on your profile—but keep it in the education section. Include your area of study and school so clients can understand the context of your expertise.

❌ 3. Should you put “Dr.” in your profile title or name?
Generally, no. It can be confusing (many clients assume “Dr.” means medical doctor) and may seem overly formal or off-putting—unless it’s directly relevant to the job. For example: if you’re a Doctor of Economics and the job is economics-related, signing the proposal with “Dr. Jane Doe” is perfectly appropriate.

✨ TL;DR: Use your credentials—but use them wisely.
Visibility tools like tags and keywords help get you found, while how you present those credentials (and where) affects how clients connect with you.

Want real-time answers to your burning questions? Join us live next week—we’ll be diving into portable income strategies that go beyond Upwork.
