What’s your specific area of knowledge? 

This  week’s feature article provides just one example of the opportunities available to freelancers, in this instance, with some medical knowledge. And you don’t have to be an “expert” to do the research legwork for many of the companies that are out there. 

Read how Insito Health’s medicine finding service Medfinder enlisted freelancers to help Americans get hard-to-find medications. It’s the perfect example of making lemonade out of lemons. These guys came up with this idea while joking about paying someone to track down stockpiles of specific drugs. 

So if you’re a doctor, nurse, or have some kind of background in healthcare and you don’t think your knowledge can  be useful for freelancing, think again! The freelance job networks are niche-focused, and there's nothing off the table in terms of job opportunities.

Productivity Tool of the Week

Have you heard about the Pomodoro Technique?

This is a great way to handle overwhelm. It's super simple and helps manage time effectively. You can use it on your web browser and it replaces the egg time for delegating blocks of time to a single task.

One “Pomodoro” is typically 25 minutes duration of focused work. Then, you take a break and come back to do another. It’s a pattern of focus/unfocus.  Completing even one or two Pomodoros is great, and the inventor of the technique calls 4 ideal.

Give it a try- it’s FREE, and a few Pomodoros may just make your day more productive!

Statistic of the Week

There’s a lot to glean from this 2023 study on freelancing by Upwork. Don’t dismiss it because it’s “last year” - in fact, a full year of data is needed for complete analyses and Upwork’s data-rich platform ensures the findings are reliable.
